"Ship’s mission continues to expand as we work to fill the gaps for our neighbors in need,” said Pastor Chris Jones, Ship Community Outreach’s founder and board officer. “Wanda will serve a critical leadership role by supporting and engaging with those we serve, our community partners and our volunteers.”
Wanda succeeds Aleece Spalding who served Ship in a variety of roles since 2008, including serving as Ship's executive director for the past two years. Aleece will spend her retirement traveling the world with her husband and spending time with family.
“We are thrilled to have Wanda join us as executive director,” said Ship Community Outreach Board Chair Nathan Becker. “Wanda has a proven record as a champion for community involvement and enrichment.”
“I have always cared deeply about the economic and social challenges that impact our communities, and I’ve witnessed firsthand the disparities in resources that hurt families in poverty-stricken neighborhoods,” said Wanda. “I believe this new role is a calling and I’m proud to serve alongside our dedicated community.”
Outside of work, Wanda uses her talents to build awareness of important issues through community events. She is the proud mother of two adult children, Jasmyne and Desmonde Jr.
