We’re excited to welcome you to our new website. Whether you’re here because you need help, want to volunteer, or are just curious about what we do in Southeast Raleigh, we’re glad you stopped by.
Who We Are
Ship Community Outreach started in 2002 when Pastors Chris and Jacqueline Jones began giving away socks and hotdogs to their neighbors. That simple act of kindness grew into something bigger. By 2010, we became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and today we serve thousands of families across Wake County every month.
We’re located at 2635 South Saunders Street in Southeast Raleigh, and we’ve been serving this community since 2001. Over the years, we’ve earned the trust of our neighbors. We have a reputation for selflessly and lovingly serving everyone who walks through our doors.
Our facility is more than just a building. It’s the center of our community. It’s a trusted and safe place where the families of South Raleigh gather. People know us. They trust us. And they know we’re here to help, not to judge.
Why We Do This
Our mission is to be neighbors working to fill in the gaps that keep people from thriving. Our vision is creating healthy and safe communities free of dependencies and capable of producing strong families.
We believe that people caught up in unfortunate circumstances deserve a second, third, and fourth chance, just like we all do. Good people sometimes stumble in life. When they do, they need a place like Ship Outreach to lend a hand.
As Pastor Chris says, “We’re trying to fill gaps and meet needs in our area.” We don’t wait for people to come to us. We go into the communities that need us most.
What We Offer
Every month, we distribute 360,000 loaves of bread through our Bread of Life program. Our Galley Grocery provides affordable food in an area where grocery stores are miles away. The Ship Yard offers free fitness training and nutrition counseling. We provide safe housing for women escaping trafficking and families who need stability. Our Ship Leadership Academy gives students a safe place after school with mentors, tutoring, and activities.
But it’s about more than food and shelter. We build relationships. We walk alongside our neighbors on their journey back to wholeness. We show them acceptance, love, and support while meeting their immediate needs.
